When darkness falls over Banská Štiavnica and the town is enveloped in silence, stories begin to come to life in one special place…

Stories of people who once lived, loved, worked and dreamt here. People whose names have gradually faded from the town’s memory, yet remain carved in stone.

We have only recently re-erected some of these gravestones. After years lying in the ground, names, dates and sometimes even unexpected connections have reappeared on them. And with them came new questions, new discoveries and stories that have yet to be told.

🕯️ We invite you to an unconventional night-time guided tour of the Jewish cemetery in Banská Štiavnica.

We’ll talk about life and death, Jewish traditions, symbols and customs, and the stories of families from Banská Štiavnica. And perhaps we’ll even uncover something you never knew about this place.

This isn’t a spooky tour. It’s an encounter with the past, which still has much to tell us.
