The miners’ unshakeable faith was their mainstay on every descent underground – and on their return to the surface. Each adit was dedicated to the patron saint of mining, whose image at the entrance was meant to ensure safety and good fortune. WHO ARE THEY?

The greeting ‘ZDAR BOH!’ was not just a phrase – it was a wish for a safe return from underground. Miners’ lives were full of customs and traditions, intertwined with a belief in supernatural forces.
